Reclaimed Wood

Reclaimed wood is ideal when matching century old floors for repairs in a heritage home or extending mid-century floors found in one part of the house throughout. And with our extensive knowledge of working with Victoria, BC area floors, we are experts at selecting the perfect boards to match your existing wood floors.

One of the biggest advantages of using reclaimed wood is that it is a sustainable way to re-purpose building materials and give them a second life. Working with reclaimed wood is one of our specialties and one of the many ways we are working towards implementing more environmentally sound practices within our industry.

Common Reclaimed Hardwood:

Solid Hardwood

Solid hardwood not only increases the value of your home, but enhances the elegance and warmth of your surroundings that is incomparable underfoot.  It’s a versatile option for any room, and is capable of producing a variety of interior style designs, all while remaining durable and comfortable.

There are an array of wood species used in hardwood flooring locally and many Victoria, BC area homes already enjoy classic hardwood installed during the mid or turn-of-the century. From the pink hues of Red Oak to it's blonder cousin White Oak, this hardwood comes in a variety of grain patterns and is a common mid-century floor which offers durability like no other. And although not technically a hardwood, Fir flooring is actually a soft wood by definition, prized for its deep amber colour and warm appeal.  Fir is typically found in many of those character, craftsman and heritage homes we have come to love around Victoria. Other varieties of hardwood common in our region include Maple, Birch and Alder, which are all durable and an ideal choice for high traffic areas.

Engineered Hardwood

In some instances, solid hardwood won’t be the best option, especially when it’s in an area of your home that is susceptible to high levels of moisture. When that’s the case, engineered hardwood is a stylish and practical alternative for homeowners looking for the elegance that hardwood floors bring into every home.

Manufactured with strong and tightly packed layers, engineered hardwood floors are a wonderful choice for spaces with a concrete sub-floor such as basements or for those who are looking for wide plank options.

You don’t have to compromise on aesthetics or style, as engineered boards are available in most of the popular solid hardwood varieties.  Plus, they are durable and strong with a variety of pre-finished styles, making them a great option for many houses.

Common Engineered Floors:

  • Pre-Finished Floors
